Appearance:
Bed bugs are flattened, oval and wingless. They are often compared apple seeds
and  appear swollen and reddish after a blood meal.

Habit:
They are nocturnal. They live in mattresses, box springs, bed frames, wall cracks, drawers, closets and picture frames and other small dark places. Inspect your mattress seems and any tears in your mattress. Look at the box spring and in the crevices of your bed, headboard, any any nearby furniture. Look under the edges of your carpet and anything hanging on the wall. Because they can be very tiny make sure you do a very good inspection.

Diet:

Active at night, they are bloodsuckers and feed in darkness. They can survive for 12 to 18 months without feeding. Their bites are not usually felt for about 10 minutes to hours after feeding.

Vacuum:

Vacuum everything with a HEPA filter rather than a canister. Make sure you get into the cracks under the baseboards and especially the mattress and under the bed. When you are done seal the bag in plastic and throw it away.

Washing:

It is important that you wash everything and  put in the dryer for at least 30 minutes on high heat. To kill any eggs which have hatched do this at least once a week.  Purchase a cover
for your bed to protect it from future infestation.
